Were You an Iota Debutante in San Francisco?

The Iota Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc. – Gamma Nu Chapter is looking for our debutantes!
For over twenty years, the sorority hosted spectacular debutante balls primarily in the City and County of San Francisco. Our elegant debutante balls were choreographed by Frances “Peggy” Parham who created beautiful ballroom waltzes, presentations and escorted promenades that featured young African American women who were graduating from high school and entering the world of college.
These cotillions were scholarship balls where each debutante had an opportunity to win a scholarship to the college of her choice, while also being “presented” to her community as an active volunteer and committed student.
Each Iota soror mentored and sponsored a debutante through the weeks long process of fundraising, teas, socials and rehearsals.
The debutante balls were primarily held in the Hyatt Regency’s Grand Ballroom, the Palace Hotel Grand Ballroom, and later in hotels on the Peninsula.
If you were a debutante (or escort), we want to hear from you and reconnect with you!
Drop us a note or touch bases with us on Facebook! We know you’re out there and wouldn’t it be grand to see one another again!
